While you're running, watch the next spring. As it passes over your head (this is the "timing" part, and it can't be described in words, you're just gonna have to learn it), run toward the ladder. Wait for a spring that hits in the center of the elevator pulley under Kong.

Your timing is more important than your position, but your position is also important. It's basically this: once you are on the left side of the ladder to Pauline, stand on the yellow elevator pulley such that your right foot is over the edge (but NOT your left foot - only your left toe at most). I don't know if you are aware of "the method" or not. I still die on the springs sometimes, and I am confident that even Billy, Hank, and Steve still die on the springs sometimes. The even worse news is that you will NEVER completely, 100% get it such that you never die. The bad news is that the springs is much harder to get. So yeah, the elevator jump is not something you will struggle with for long. I was almost embarrassed to send the game in just for that. I hadn't died on that spot in several months, and had made that jump without incident literally thousands of consecutive times since the last time I died there. Actually, I shouldn't say this because on my kill screen game on DK Japan, I died there (and while I was deep in the game too, god I hated myself). You will virtually never die there again. The jump from the elevator is the easier one to get a handle on, and once you've got it, you've got it. It's there to make the muggles give up and to keep them from ever cracking into the heart of the game.īoth of these things on the elevator screen - the jump and the springs - are all about practice.īut the amount of practice you need for each is very different! This screen is really the "locked door" of Donkey Kong.

I apologize for the length of this post, but I'm going to adapt this for a blog post on my upcoming Donkey Kong blog so I might as well go long!ĭon't worry about having trouble with level 4.4 this is a very common issue.
